A radio-hour-turned-town-hall-event for children aged 10-13, their siblings, and the adults who shape their world.
A live, local broadcast takes a chaotic turn when Ray O'Dee announces "Fancy Dan!" as an event in the town hall this evening, and the phone lines light up.
Rooted in a specific rural context, this outrageous comedy reflects contemporary Ireland at the intersection of tradition and change—negotiating differences, identity, belonging, and who we are becoming.
Premiered as a site-specific production at The Temperance Hall, Longford, June 2025 as part of Cruinniú na nÓg.
Created through process drama workshops and improvisations with 150+ children aged 8–13 across 4 schools in Longford, with a further 3 schools invited to participate in a rich community engagement programme.
Commissioned by Backstage Theatre, funded by the Arts Council Project Award, supported by Creative Ireland Longford, developed at Marino Institute of Education.
